Born Feb. 8, 1921 in Bronaugh, Mo., she lived in Colorado and Oregon before her father moved them to Los Angeles. She married William "Bill" Sturdy Feb. 18, 1939. They built a home in Bell Gardens where Eddythe was a homemaker. After her 5 kids were in school, she worked at Bell Gardens Jr. High. In 1965 they moved to Big Bear where she worked at the Presbyterian Camp, Pine Summit Camp, and finally Big Bear High School. After retirement Bill and Eddythe moved to Arizona and finally to New Mexico in 1989. Eddythe returned to Big Bear in May 2008 after Bill went home to Jesus March 6, 2008. Eddythe accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a teenager. She grew in her faith after her marriage when she and Bill started attending church. She enjoyed studying her Bible. She conducted Child Evangelism classes in her home and taught Sunday school classes wherever she lived. Eddythe enjoyed sewing, reading and working crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives and always shared her love for Jesus. Eddythe is survived by daughters Marguerite Zechiel of Fountain Valley, Calif. and Madeline Zaharias of Big Bear City, Calif.; three sons, Mike of Big Bear City, John and James, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; plus 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Cerny of Riverside, Calif. and Edith Coombs of North Platte, Neb. A graveside service was held May 13, 2009 in Albuquerque, N.M.
