Source Unknown; Date Unknown Aug. 14, 1913 � Dec. 21, 2004 A memorial services was held on Dec. 29 for Edith Tande, who passed away Dec. 21. Reverend Diane Ryder conducted the services at the Community Congregational Church in Tehachapi. Edith was born to Clarence and Winnifred Jeglum in Michigan, N.D. She attended Valley City State Teacher's College after which she taught in one-room rural schools of North Dakota that serve up to eight grades with one teacher. She also taught kindergarten and first grade in Downy for 27 years. Edith completed her bachelor of arts degree and teaching credential at California State College at Long Beach (now CSULB). During her teaching years she also completed her masters degree in education at Pepperdine University. She enjoyed oil painting, traveling, playing her piano and organ, as well as gardening. She moved to Bear Valley in 1987. She remained in her own home, living independently, until one week before her passing. Edith is survived by a son, Gordon Lundene of Downy; a daughter, Joyce McLeod and son-in- law Robert McLeod, also of Bear Valley; grandson, J. Randall Kershaw D.C. and wife Julie Strey Kershaw D.C. of La Crescenta; granddaughter, Brenda Shepard and husband W. Terry Shepard of Anchorage, Alaska; and great-granddaughter, Corin O'hara and husband Dan Hague of Oakland. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
