Anchorage Daily News 05-12-1995 Pg D-4 Anchorage resident Marjorie Alvera Taws, known as "Sister" or "Auntie" Marge, 78, died May 9, 1995, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Her ashes will be returned to the family plot in Meridian, Ca., this fall by her sister and brother-in-law and a graveside memorial service will be held. Ms. Taws was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Meridian, Ca to Clyde and Bessie Jones. She attended local schools and graduated from Sutter Union High School in Sutter, Ca., in 1934. She attended beauty school in Sacramento and worked as a beautician in Woodland, Marysville, Colusa Ca., until retirement in 1984. She moved to Alaska that year to be near her family. She resided with her sister, Edwina Reitter, in Anchorage. Besides her sister, she is survived by her nephews and their families, Robert Reitter, wife, Kathy and daughter, Louisa of Tok, Alan Reitter and wife Susie and daughter, Antonia of Kenai and Jeffrey Reitter of Juneau. Memorials may be sent to the charity of choice. Acknowledgements may be sent to Edwina Reitter, 8240 Pokey Circle, Anchorage 99507. Cremation arrangements were handled by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory. A native of Meridian, she was a longtime Mid -Valley resident before moving to Anchorage about eight years ago. She worked as a beauty operator in the area for many years. Survivors include her sister, Edwina Reitter of Anchorage, and several nieces and nephews. Services: A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at the family plot in Meridian cemetery
