Wally Thompson Published: Thursday, September 9, 2010 1:45 PM PDT Wally Thompson, 63, died at the Loma Linda VA hospital on June 30, 2010, after a long illness. Born Dec 17, 1947, Wally was a 30-year resident of Big Bear Valley. He worked at Chad's Place for a few years as a bartender and a bouncer, but his real talent was tile. He owned Otto's Tile Bin and the Tile Contractor. He truly was a Master Craftsman when it came to tile. His real love was the martial arts. In the 1970s, Wally was named one of the top Kendo Karate Kendo competitors in the country and during that time he owned & operated 2 Karate Studios. Wally is survived by his daughter Corey (Ron) Thompson-Boca; grandsons Brandon and Josiah Boca; mother Ellie Bornor; father Ray Szymcak; sister Wallene (John) Helms; nephews Noah and David Helms; neices Cyndie and Teal Helms. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jamie Pizlings, in 2003. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
