TINGLE Published: Wednesday, April 7, 2010 12:36 PM PDT On Sept. 2, 1925, Gladys Ellen Mae Schandel (Tingle) was born in Glendale, Calif. On March 25, 2010, at the age of 84, she passed away peacefully as she was floating above the pines and roses. Gladys grew up with her family in Glendale, Calif. After attending Hoover High School she met and married her husband, Sterling Tingle. While separated from her husband due to World War II, she worked at the Lockheed Plant in Burbank, Calif., in support of the war effort. After the war, she was reunited with her husband and eventually settled down with her husband and their two daughters in Burbank, Calif., where she was a homemaker and part-time worker. By the late '60s she had moved with her husband to Apple Valley, Calif. By the mid-'70s, she moved to the Sugarloaf area of Big Bear where she enjoyed life and lived until her passing. She spent many hours on her front porch admiring every little creature and tree. She volunteered tirelessly in Big Bear for the Senior Thrift Store, the Senior Center and for the Food Program. She made many lasting friends during this time of her life. Gladys will be most remembered for her contagious laugh and sense of humor, her love of cats and roses, and her appreciation of nature and the simple things in life. She is survived by her daughters, Sandrea Fiske of North Hollywood, Calif.; Peggy Tingle-Campbell, of Carpinteria, Calif.; granddaughter, Shona Lamoureaux; brother Roger; and sisters Marion and Francis. A celebration and thanksgiving of her life will be held in Big Bear. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to VNAIC-Hospice, 264 N. Highland Springs Ave., Banning, CA 92220.
