Source Unknown; 28 Dec 1944 FORMER NEWSPAPER MAN PASSES Royal H.Turner who many of the old timers in Mojave will remember as the man who started the first newspaper here many years ago and which was forced to suspend on account of fire in the plant, died. at Boron, Calif. on Saturday, December 23. 1944. Born at Naples, Ill., Mr. Turner early in life espoused a desire to follow the printing trade and came to Mojave many years ago establishing the first small newspaper here. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Pearl I. Turner. and three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Knight. Mrs. Martha Carney and Mrs. Alice Kostopaulos and four grandchildren, besides a sister, Mrs. Hattie Anderson. . Burial took place in the Mojave cemetery with funeral arrangements in charge of the O'Donnell Funeral Parlor.
