Ward was born on March 15, 1920 in Redondo Beach, California and passed away October 16, 2004 in Lancaster, California. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Ward and a son, Richard Ward, daughter-in-law Mary Ward and a granddaughter, Rachelle Cobb. He was predeceased by his daughter Barbara Harter.John served in the Air Force during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam as Chief Master Sergeant. He retired from the Air Force after serving 28 years. He then worked 6 years for Lockheed Aircraft as a senior engineering writer. He worked 6 years for NASA security in the early years of the space shuttle. He was a resident of California City since 1970. He was an active member of the Mabel Davis Senior Center in California City, serving as president for 4 years. John and his wife Margaret have been active members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Tehachapi for 26 years. A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 329 S. Mill St., Tehachapi on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 11 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1-800-227-2345.
