Redlands Daily Facts; 03/05/2008 Lois Clare Charlton Weitzel, a longtime resident of Mentone, died of heart failure Feb. 26 in Poulsbo, Wash. She was 92. She was born April 19, 1915, in Paradise, Calif., and was a graduate of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. She married the Rev. David Edward Weitzel on July 16, 1939, and they lived in California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington and Oregon during their pastoral ministry. From 1966 to 2000 she lived in Mentone, where her husband was pastor of the Mentone Community Church. Her husband died in 1980. She moved to Crista Shores Assisted Living in Silverdale, Wash., in 2002 and to the Martha and Mary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Poulsbo in November 2007. Survivors include her sister Ruth A. Uhlinger of Los Angeles; her brother John R. Charlton of Glendale; three children, David Weitzel of Aurora, Colo., Maryanna Horton of Roxas, Palawan, Philippines, and Paul Weitzel of Lakewood, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Crista Shores Courtyard. Inurnment will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Calimesa at a later date.
