Former resident Mark J. Wellenstein mourned
SEATTLE, Washington-Funeral services were held in Seattle, Washington, on Jan. 26 for Mark J. 
Wellenstein, a former Downey resident who died June 20 in Philadelphia. 
He was 23, and attended St. Mark's Episcopal School, East Middle School, and Downey High before 
moving to Seattle. On graduation from high school he joined the Marines, where he attained the 
rank of Sergeant, leaving after four years to attend university in Philadelphia. 
Survivors include his father, Carl of Downey; his mother, Jane and a sister, Kristin, both of Seattle. 
Memorials may be made in memory of Mark to Families & Friends of Violent Crime Victims, P.O.
