Mojave Desert News; 9 May 1946 Woman Killed, Companion Hurt In Auto Accident In an auto accident which occurred 20 miles north of Mojave on the Bishop Hwy., Thursday evening of last week, Mrs. W. W. White of 4255 Beck Ave., North Hollywood suffered a broken neck and succumbed almost instantly to her injuries. She was 37 years old and leaves her husband. Walter W. White, a son, Walter and a daughter, Gloria Ann to mourn her demise, all of the same address. The body was taken to North Hollywood by the O'Donnell Funeral Home ambulance and interrment took place in Forest Lawn on Monday. Riding with her were a Miss Hall who suffered severe injuries and her little daughter, Gloria Ann who escaped with light contusions. Miss Hall was removed' to the Mojave Hospital for emergency treatment after which she was taken to North Hollywood. The accident occurred when the machine she was driving suddenly swerved to avoid another machine and striking a soft shoulder in the road, turned over and then righted itself. Also lost in the accident was a brown cocker puppy for which a reward is being offered to anyone finding the dog and returning it to the above address or notifying the owner by mail who will come and get it.
