Theatus Wood, longtime Boron resident passes 
Former beauty shop owner was 103 
Theatus Sammy Henderson Wood was born October 10, 1899, in Ben 
Lomond, Arkansas, and passed away May 7, 2003, in Lancaster, California, 
at the age of 103-1/2. 
During the 1940's, Theatus opened The Desert Girl Beauty Salon in 
Boron. She was there until she retired in 1965 and then moved to Santa 
Barbara for several years. She later returned to Boron to be near family and 
friends. 
Theatus was active at the First Baptist Church of Boron and also attended 
functions at the Boron Senior Citizens. 
Eleven brothers and sisters preceded Theatus in death. She is survived by 
numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted by her niece, Dorotha Howard, at Stickel 
Mortuary in Mojave, on Friday, May 9. Entombment was at Hollywood 
Forever Cemetery, in Hollywood, California.

NOTE:
In 1972 Theatus is listed in the Santa Barbara City Directory as retired 
living at 514c Anapamu St.
