Hit and Run Driver Kills Man at Actis
Victim of a hit and run driver Arthur C. Woods, 65 years of age was killed on the 
hiway about half a mile south at Actis early Monday morning. The badly mangled 
body was found by a truck driver before six a. m. Highway Patrolmen C. A. Scott and 
Deputy Don Brink investigated the accident and it is reported the tire marks on the 
pavement show the car skidded over 170 feet from the point of impact.	.	.
Mr. Woods came south from Fresno last December and had been living at Joe Actis 
place at Actis. Altho he had two sons and two daughters, the address of a son, Albert, 
in Massachusetts is the only one known. Hobson Mortuary of Bakersfield took charge 
of the body.
