All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Source Unknown; Date Unknown Robert Parks Young, age 84, passed away on January 10, 2001 at his residence in Mojave, CA. Mr. Young was born in Mooresville, North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was discharged in 1945. In 1946, Mr. Young moved to Mojave and for 35 years worked for the U.S. Post Office Department retiring in 1971 as Assistant Postmaster. He was a volunteer fireman for 15 years and was very active in the Mojave Lions Club for over 55 years. Mr. Young served the Lions in various positions and received recognition with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was also active in the Mojave Community Church for many years and instrumental in the construction of the new sanctuary there. Mr. Young is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary; daughters Susan Young of Lancaster and Sharon Hosier of Mojave; two grandsons Daniel and David Hosier of Mojave; his sister, Isabel Jones of Little Hocking, Ohio and numerous other relatives. Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stickel Mortuary in Mojave and funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mojave Community Church. Graveside services followed.
