Sutter Native Dead at 81
Mrs Mary Hope Zeigler, 81, a native and lifelong resident of Sutter County died early 
today at Fremont Hospital following a short illness. She lived at 684 S. Township Road 
and was the widow of John A Zeigler. Her parents were early residents of California. 
Her father, Emerson W Hixson, a native of Michigan, was brought to California as an 
infant in 1857 and her mother Lorena Rice Hixson was born in Nevada City in 1858. 
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs Nicholas Orr of Yuba City, a nephew, Donald F Hixson 
of Salinas, whom Mrs Zeigler reared from infancy; a sister, Mrs Marjorie Bodley of Oakland; 
four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending at Ullrey 
Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Sutter Cemetery.
