"Tom" Gregory Baird
58, of Big Bear Lake, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26.
He was born to Margaret Baird and the late Julian "Zack" Baird, March 15, 1953, in Van Nuys, Calif. Tom moved his family to Big Bear in 1978 where he worked side by side with his dad at Big Baird Drywall.
Tom lived in Big Bear Lake for 30 years, where he successfully operated Baird Construction & Drywall. Tom's love for building homes was one of a kind. He took much pride in his work and his dedication to his clients was above and beyond. His love and passion for the ocean, surfing and fishing has been passed down to all of his children. All those who knew Tom know he would give you the shirt off his back. His experiences in the realms of family, friends and business were his favorite things to recall. His unique way of impacting others was one that none of us will forget. We are blessed for the wonderful memories that he leaves behind in the hearts of so many.
Tom is survived by his three children: Tyson Baird, Carly Baird, and Zack Baird of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; his wife, Jackie Baird of Woodland Hills, Calif.; and three adopted children, Dillon, Tucker and Savannah. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Baird of Sebastopol, Calif.; and sister, Karen Croswell of Occidental, Calif. Tom was expecting his first grandchild this December.
A service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 1p.m., at the Community Church by the lake.
