Helen Blauer

94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, in the thoughtful care of Bear Valley Community Hospital. She was born June 17, 1918, in Ontario, Canada, to James and Helen Scott. Helen grew up as the middle child in a family of seven, with three brothers and three sisters.

In 1947, while visiting her sister in Big Bear, she met the love of her life, Robert Blauer, who passed away Nov. 7, 2010. Helen and Robert were married on Nov. 7, 1948, at the Big Bear Community Church. Soon thereafter, they started a family and became the proud parents of Jim and Steve. Together for over 60 years, they owned and managed Pine Haven Cottages. At the age of 94, even after her husband's passing in 2010, Helen continued renting their cottages because she treasured the meaningful friendships that had developed over the years and loved visiting with her guests. Helen was an avid Lakers basketball fan! In fact, the only time her door may have been closed to company was during a game. Everyone close to her knew to take their places before game time. Helen was a loving wife, mother and great grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Kim and Steve and their families. She will be missed.

In a loving voice, she comforted us by saying, "Don't worry about me, I'm fine. I won't be far."
