Ruth Mae Carroll
Passed away on Oct. 4, 2011, after a very courageous battle with liver cancer. Her husband was by her
side at their home in palm desert, Calif. A private service was held at forest Lawn in Cathedral City, Oct.
12, 2011. Ruth was born Sept. 17, 1943, to Joe and Mary Chamberlain in Boston, Mass. She moved with
family to California at a very young age. She graduated from Arcadia high school in 1961, and attended
Citrus College for two years. On July 27, 1963, Ruth married Larry Carroll from Duarte, Calif. Ruth has
two sons, Keith Carroll and Travis Carroll.
Ruth is survived by husband Larry Carroll, and her son Keith, his wife, Alex, and two wonderful grandchildren,
granddaughter Austin Carroll and grandson Nolan Carroll of San Diego. Travis Carroll preceded Ruth in death
in April 2011. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Chamberlain and family of Calif., and sister, Barbara
Crooks and family of Texas.
Ruth had lived and raised her family in Big Bear Lake for 36 years with a winter home in Palm Springs and then
Palm Desert for 23 years. She loved the mountains and lake, but, really liked Palm Desert in the winter. Ruth
had a circle of 14 girlfriends, who she graduated with from Arcadia high school. They would meet two times
a year. She loved them all dearly. Ruth was a wonderful person and I was the luckiest man to have been married
to her for 48 years. Ruth's life has now come full circle and I know she loved the journey.
