Walter E. (Bill) Cummings

Walter E. (Bill) Cummings

passed away March 1, 2011, in the early evening, after a long illness with dementia. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Apple Valley; daughter Terri and grandson Cheyenne, both of Manhattan Beach, Calif. He was predeceased by his parents Maude and Walter Cummings and a halfbrother.

During his lifetime, he was a professional dancer in his late teens and 20s. During World War II he was a photographer with the 166th Signal Corps, 4th Armored Division. After leaving the Army, he continued photography of celebrities and the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles and ran the Charles Bower Studio in Inglewood. Retiring in the early '80s, he and his wife moved (in 1988) to Apple Valley, where he played golf and tennis and became active in Church of the Valley.

He was loved and will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held March 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Valley, 14933 Wakita Blvd., Apple Valley with Pastor Becky Sage officiating. Instead of flowers, please make a donation to Breast Cancer Awareness, if you wish.
