Barbara Etta Duran

Barbara was born in Colton, Calif., on April 15,1936. She passed peacefully February 2, 2013 in Newport Beach, Calif.
Barbara was an amazing wife and mother. Anyone who had the good fortune of meeting and knowing her were always touched by her incredibly warm smile and beautiful blue eyes. She always had time for anyone who needed a shoulder to cry on or just a happy word.

She and her husband Chris raised their family in Garden Grove, and she moved to Big Bear full time in 1992, to the little cabin on Lagonita Lane, that they purchased in the late '60s. It was here that she had some of her fondest memories of family vacations and holidays. Simple pleasures of summers spent with her daughters Heidi and Felicia having picnics up at Cedar Lake, looking through old photographs on snowy afternoons, or having her son Sparky grilling his famous burgers on the BBQ. The memories of the cabin on the lake always warmed her heart. She was at peace there.

Barbara also loved to travel, enjoying the warm weather of Mexico, and seeing Ireland made her happy. Many people knew Barbara from behind the counter at Little Ceasers Pizza in K Mart, where she was the manager for years.

Barbara leaves behind her two daughters Heidi Duran (Chuck), Felicia Bain (Michael), grandchildren Daniel, Dallas, Shea, Cole, Hayley, and Chelsea. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Chris Duran, and son Sparky Duran. She will be missed by many, but will be in our hearts forever. We love you mom, and until we meet again, may god hold you in the palm of his hand.

A celebration to honor Barbara's life will be held in the Spring.
