Charles "Bill" Elam

born May 8, 1928, has passed to heaven. He loved to sing and we are sure he is in the Angelic choir. He leaves two sons Michael Elam, wife Judy, and Rick Elam and wife Glenda. One daughter Roberta Elam. Also leaves two grandchildren, Danny and Jenny and his longtime companion Barbara Jones and his beloved cat Nala. For many years he along with his brother owned Elams for Men clothing in Huntington Park, where he was born.

He passed away Sept. 27 with his cat by his side and Barbara and Mike nearby.

He was in the choir at the Methodist Church for 12 years. He performed for the PAC and at one time was very active in the Master Chorale. He was a Big Bear Dandy and loved the Barbershop.

When he first came to Big Bear it was to ski and he did until he was 75, and played tennis and bowled. His first bout with cancer eliminated skiing and tennis but he bowled right up until the week before he passed as it had become another passion for him.

He loved to read and went to the library and usually read four books a week. His favorite sport was watching Lakers basketball and he could tell you every-thing about every player.

His memorial was in his life and his ashes will be strewn at a later date. These were his wishes. He will be missed.
