Margurite 'Pegge' Joyce Ent

Margurite 'Pegge' Joyce Ent

Margurite 'Pegge' Joyce Ent passed on Feb. 3, 2011, at the age of 74. Pegge has been a resident of Big Bear Valley since 1946. She graduated from Big Bear High School in 1955 and worked for the local cable television company for 26 years.

Pegge was born Nov. 4, 1936, in Los Angeles, Calif. Prior to moving to Big Bear Valley at the age of 9, Pegge lived in various locations throughout the United States including the largest ghost town in the western United States, Bodie, Calif. She spent her childhood exploring Big Bear on her horse and working for her dad's logging operation hauling logs out of Holcomb Valley before she was old enough to have a driver's license.

Pegge and her husband, 'Stubby' shared a passion for cars. They owned many hot rods, custom cars and muscle cars during their time together. They passed that passion down through the generations. Pegge loved racing and worked as part of the pit crew for her son Danny's desert races and sprint car races. She always supported any member of the family in any interests they may have had.

Pegge was an avid hockey fan. She even traveled to Canada for a Kings road trip with her grandson, Jason. Her favorite player was Marty McSorley.

Pegge dedicated her life to her family and friends. She enjoyed camping and off-roading and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Before her illness, she and her husband enjoyed traveling to Arizona to visit their best friends of almost 60 years, Bud and Bonnie Camomile.

Pegge leaves her husband of 52 years, Harold 'Stubby' Ent; sons Kenny Ent and wife Donna of Apple Valley and Danny Ent and wife Kelly of Big Bear City; brother, Hoyt 'Allen' Syfrett and wife Jackie of Camas, Wash.; grandsons, Jason Ent and wife Erica, Bryan Ent and wife Kendra; granddaughter Kelsey; and four great-grandchildren: Kolten, Taylor, Brodie and Gracie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt and Dorothy Syfrett; her daughter, Joanne Marie Ent; and her daughter-in-law, Theresa Ent.

A celebration of her life will take place at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center located at 42900 Big Bear Blvd., Big Bear Lake, CA 92315 on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Steven G. Mihaylo Big Bear High School Education Foundation, Marie Wanke/Soroptimist Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1529, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315.
