John William Farrar
passed Sept. 13, 2013, in his Big Bear home surrounded by his loved ones.

John was born May 13, 1933, in Highway Highlands, Calif. He grew up there, Yucaipa, San Bernardino and in Big Bear in the '40s.

John served his country in the Navy and fought in the Korean War. He later received a BS degree in physics. Then became an engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, retiring after 38 years.

John married his beautiful wife, Betty, on Aug. 31, 1956. They raised their 2 amazing children in La Crescenta, Calif. He was the president of the Tujunga Little League for a time.

They vacationed at their Big Bear cabin since 1969 and became permanent residents in 1997.

John has been a VP & volunteer for the Big Bear Historical Society and a member of the Elks Lodge.

John lived a truly blessed life, the American Dream. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his devoted wife Betty, daughter Debbie, son-in-law Andy, granddaughters Nicole & Brianna and son Dean, daughter-in-law Stacy & granddaughter Faith.

His family has had a private celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, John's wishes were for donations to be made to Singing Pines Private School in Big Bear. His family thanks all who wish to honor him in this way. We love you John William Farrar.
