Lloyd Joseph Gervais
was born Jan. 9, 1931, and went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2012. He was born in Pawtucket, R.I. to Lloyd and Cecilia (McManus) Gervais and grew up in North Providence and Cumber-land, R.I.
Lloyd served in the Navy from 1948 through the Korean war. He met Ora Savard in 1952 and married in 1953. They moved to California in 1955 and opened their first business in La Habra in 1958. That same year their first child, a daughter named Linda, was born. Soon after Douglas came along in 1960.
Lloyd and Ora moved the family to Big Bear in 1980 and opened the Carriage Shed Auto Repair, a family- run business for 25 years, until retiring in 2005.
Lloyd was a member of the Elks Lodge for 54 years. Past Exaulted Ruler of the Lodge he helped charter in 1958, La Habra Lodge #2095. He was a member of the American Legion and was one of the founders of the Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club in 1982. He was a very proud member of the Citizens on Patrol for over 7 years and was an avid golfer.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ora; daughter Linda Gilliam; son Douglas Gervais (Shari); 3 grandchildren: Matthew Gilliam (Vanessa); Taylor Marshell (Michael) and Jenay Diaz; 4 great grandchildren: Taytum, Tyhler, Micah and Grace; sisters: Noela Bedard of Foxboro, Mass., Mildred Bacchiocchi of East Wareham, Mass., Eileen King (Robert) of Pahrump, Nev., and a brother, Donat Gervais of Pawtucket, R.I.
Service was May 22, 2012, at St. Columba's Episcopal Church with burial at Riverside National Cemetery following the service.
