Norman Lee Greene

Norman Lee Greene
The family of Norman Lee Greene, age 74, of Big Bear Lake, Calif., mourns his sudden passing this week. Norman was killed in a motorcycle collision on the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011.

Norm, affectionately called “Sonny” by his family because of his consistently happy disposition, is survived by his son, Ray (41) and his grandson, Alexander (5).

Norm was born in Pasadena, Calif., and grew up in Santa Ana. He graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1955. He worked as an electrician based in Santa Ana for 40 years, and moved to Big Bear Lake in 2000. Norm spent the last 10 years splitting his time between Big Bear Lake and Henderson, Nev.

With his sudden departure, the world has lost a wonderful man who was full of life, with an unending willingness to help others. Those who knew him will join his family in calling Norm “the most helpful man we knew.”

The family will be holding a celebration of life on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. at the home of his brother in Villa Park, Calif. If you would like to attend, please contact his son, Ray at

Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Big Bear Elementary School Boosters Club. Please note “Alexander Greene” in the memo.
