Paul Daniel Hickey

Paul Hickey passed away at his home in Big Bear on May 22, 2013. He was 51 years old. Paul was born in Los Angeles on Sept. 3, 1961, to Tom and Betty Hickey, who at that time resided in Boulder Bay. Paul lived there until he was 1-1/2 years old at which time he moved with his family to a newly built home in Big Bear City. There he resided until 1975 when the home was sold. After a brief time of living in San Bernardino with his mother, he moved back to the Big Bear area to live with his father in Fawnskin until after he graduated from high school. Paul received all of his schooling in the Big Bear school district, graduating from Big Bear High in 1979. Soon after graduation, he received training in woodworking and cabinetry. He moved to Orange County and worked for a number of years with a high-end cabinetry company which he really enjoyed. He injured his back at work, requiring surgery, and this eventually prevented him from continuing the cabinetry work that brought him so much pleasure and satisfaction. He and his family then relocated to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, for several years until he returned to Big Bear where he had lived for the past five years. Paul had a lively sense of humor, a quick mind, and was a loving father. He enjoyed the outdoors, cabinetmaking, computer gaming, and people.

He is survived by his children Sean (age 20) and Sara (age 19), his three sisters, one brother, and their spouses. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Goodbye Paul. Thank you for enriching our lives.

A private family memorial service was held on June 15.
