Bob was born in Los Angeles but moved at an early age to Arcadia. There he was active in high school sports, particularly football. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Military Policeman. Following his military service, he graduated from Cal State Los Angeles. He moved to Big Bear and began his teaching career at Big Bear Elementary School in 1956, where he met his wife, Joy. He spent his life teaching and working here in Big Bear and Carmel School District but his favorite teaching position was the 16 years he spent at the Glen Martin one room school in Angeles Oaks. He retired from teaching after 34 years. Bob loved to body surf in the ocean, fish in any lake and climb the trails of the mountains, especially in his beloved Sierra Nevadas.

A family memorial service will be held in June at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested that donations be made to the high school football and tennis programs, in support of his two favorite sports. Please send donations to Bear Backers: Football/Tennis, P.O. Box 7185,Big Bear Lake.
