On the second day of July 2013, in her 97th year, Ruth "Ruthie" Jones began her much anticipated journey to the beautiful meadows of Heaven to be with her "sweetheart" and beloved husband, Harold.
She was born April 06, 1916, in Listie, Penn. She came to California when she was a young woman and married Harold (Ruth always said he married her for her car). They resided in southwest Los Angeles until Harold retired from the city of Los Angeles. Then they moved to Big Bear Lake, where she was a resident and member of the Big Bear Lake Baptist Church for over six decades.
Ruth loved her home and made all of her friends and family feel welcome with her questions, her famous root beer floats, her smile, and her exceptional sense of humor. She gave a lasting gift of self that delighted and enriched us all -- a gift that those who knew her will never forget.
Ruth leaves behind her beloved son, Howard "Bud" Jones, grandsons, Joshua and Christopher Jones and her very special niece, Sharon Marini and her family.
A viewing will be held at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Ave., Redlands, California, on Friday, July 12, at 11 a.m. Followed by a 2 p.m. gravesite service, officiated by longtime friend and assistant Pastor, Bud Davis, at Inglewood Park Cemetary, 720 East Florence Ave., Inglewood.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Ruth's honor to Redlands Community Hosputal, 350 Terracina Blvd., Redlands, CA 92373.
