Bernie Kaidin

66, passed March 20, 2012, while taking a nap at home in Van Nuys. Born May 18, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif., he retired after 30 years as an AT&T computer technician. Bernie served in the U. S. Navy on active duty in Vietnam.

Bernie was always good at surprises and jokes. We will miss him dearly but know where he really is and know he is at peace. He was such a gentle giant who loved people, always helping others and showing great patience with children. Bernie loved the outdoors and had 5 years of his retirement here in Big Bear before moving to assisted living in Van Nuys. All who knew him loved him. You were sick too long and went too soon. We love you Bernie.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Big Bear City; his mother Pearl and sister Linda, both of Yorba Linda; brother Marty of Culver City; son Adam of Desert Hot Springs; daughter Sheri of Thousand Oaks; stepdaughters Cami Reed of Canyon Country and Kirsten Johnson of Canoga Park; stepson Joel Buchannan of Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren Andrew, Adam and Alexis Kaidin; Jared and Malloy Norton; Cameron and Christian Reed; Timothy Larkin; Tyler Harrison and Briana Johnson; and mother-in-law Pauline Coleman.
