Nancy Kennedy, devoted wife to the late Gene Kennedy, loving mother of former Big Bear resident John Kennedy, and spoiling grandmother to Madyson Rose and Kayla Jordyn Kennedy, passed away peacfully at Loma Linda Medical Center in Murrieta, Calif. She was 89.
Nancy Kennedy was born on the Big Island of Hawaii - raised on O'ahu. She was a telephone operator in Hawaii during the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and loved sharing her story with everyone.
Met and married Gene Kennedy in 1955 after she moved to the mainlaind - settling in Los Angeles.
In 1973, the Kennedy family became permanent residents of Big Bear Valley.
Nancy was a kind and loving member of the community - always there to help those in need.
Also known as the host of "Voices of the Valley" on the local Big Bear Lakes Channel 6 - Nancy became an icon of the valley - creating dialog with the community leaders and interviewing many "special guests" of the community.
She was very active in the Lion's Club International, Sunset Chapter, for more than 30 years.
She was a founding member of the Senior Center of Big Bear Lake and was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Memorial Services are scheduled for Friday Feb. 8, 2013, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on North Shore at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or City of Hope Cancer Center.

survived by two children Ted Mattos, Mary Jo Chandler, six
grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and
preceded in death by two sons, Norman P. Lewis and Dean R. Kennedy.
