Stephanie Layne-Murphy
The Big Bear community is mourning the profound loss of one of its most spirited and brightest residents. Stephanie Layne-Murphy gracefully lost her battle with cancer on Jan. 26, 2012. Stephanie was a respected and admired real estate professional. She brought commitment and excellence, wit and humor to everything she did. Stephanie embodied all that we love about Big Bear. She was sunshine, fitness and LIFE. Also a deeply involved Mom, she passed her love of fitness and healthy, active lifestyle on to her boys Dillon, 16 and Sean, 14. The most important thing in Stephanie’s life was her family. Shortly before she died, in an email to colleagues she wrote, “I am pushing through all of this as it is all I know how to do. Mark, Dillon and Sean are 3 of the best reasons I know of to fight for my life, however long that may be.” Stephanie’s vibrant inner beauty far exceeded her considerable outer beauty as she cared very much for those she loved. She valued her friends enough to say the things they didn’t always want to hear but needed to. To know Stephanie a little was a blessing, to know her a lot was a blessing and an honor. Stephanie was a fresh breeze in a sometimes tense and stressful world. There are no words to describe how deeply she will be missed.
