Anthony L. Leone

Anthony L. Leone

better known as Tony, 69, passed away at his home on Feb. 28, 2011, after a lengthy illness of 14 months. He was born and raised in West Los Angeles, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

He worked for 30 years at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing as a senior buyer in the purchasing department. He took early retirement in 1996 and he and his wife moved to Big Bear Lake to enjoy retirement. He loved the mountains and being in a small community where he made a friend of everyone he met. He and his wife used to go to the Lumberjack Cafe back in the days when the Wijnhamers owned it and would meet several friends for breakfast.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge here locally but had not been an active member due to his health.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of 18 years; two daughters, Deanna Gleeson in Pennsylvania, and Stephanie Strand in El Toro; three grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Lehr, in Menifee, Calif.; and his beloved nephew, Ralph Lehr, in Torrance, Calif.

He requested there be no memorial service and will be buried at sea through the Trident Society. His wishes were that if anyone wanted to do something, please donate to the Humane Society of America, as he loved all animals.
