Kelly Faye Lick mercifully passed away on Nov. 16, 2012, at the age of 49 after a difficult two-year battle with cervical cancer. Her husband, Dan Lick of Santa Clarita, Calif., and parents, Richard and Linda Banks of Big Bear Lake, Calif., were with her till the end. We can think of no better way to pay tribute to her life than to relate who she was as a person rather than what she did during her shortened life. Jo Kline, her best friend from Davenport, Iowa, where Kelly and Dan recently lived, said it so well: I lost my best friend last night. Her name was Kelly. She was the kindest, most loving person I have ever known. She was non-judgmental and compassionate. She was always there when I needed her in good times and bad. I never know why God chooses the ones he does. But I do know Kelly touched a lot of lives while on this earth and now she no longer has to live in pain. I hope she is now filled with joy, peace and serenity, surrounded by all those who loved her and have gone before. I know that someday we will be together again, when God feels I have served my purpose here. My prayers go out to Dan and her parents who have been by her side through all of this. My heart is broken and my tears are cleansing my soul. But I thank God for having known such a fine woman.
