Kenton Eugene Lloid
61, passed Feb. 11, 2011. Born May 28, 1949, in Julesburg, Colo., he was a 28-year resident of Big Bear
Valley. Ken was a paid-call firefighter at the Fawnskin Fire Department from 1992 until 2002 when he had
to retire due to a back injury. He was a lieutenant at the time of his retirement.
Ken first arrived in Big Bear in 1977 and fell in love with the mountain. His parents had Lloids Gifts in
Fawnskin until they retired in 1994. Ken and his wife Donna managed Kyles Kottages Rental Cabins also in
Fawnskin until 1996 then took over as managers of the Cape Cod Cabins and Condo's later known as the
Ken is survived by his wife, Donna, of Big Bear Lake; son John of Highland; stepson Bobby Meador of
Arizona; daughters Melissa Steel and Linda Bronson both of San Bernardino; sister Sonya Thompson and
Services will be held Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. at the Fawnskin Fire Department. Pastor Glen Adkins
