Denis Harry Newton

Just shy of his 95th birthday, Denis passed peacefully into the eternal care of his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on July 2, 2013, with his wife by his side. He was born July 19, 1917, in Marylabone, London England.

He attended Lancing College in London with a major in mathematics directed toward a career in ship engineering. At an early age and again as a young man he was fascinated with airplanes. His dream of being a military aviator intensified. With WWII brewing, he flew his first plane at age 16 and shortly thereafter he and his family came to America just before the bombing of London.

After moving many times, the family settled in Hollywood where Denis met his wife, Rene, and they married Dec. 24, 1964, and enjoyed 471⁄2 happy years together. During this time he became a flight engineer and flew many missions carrying military personnel and equipment mostly to Japan and Germany with fuel stops at Wake Island in the Pacific.

Denis was known as a person of honor and moral character whose faith was a private and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Everyone loved his jokes and funny stories along with his ability to talk about any subject. He was truly a "Mr. Trivia."

As you can guess his hobby was airplanes: building, fixing, creating, etc. He really began developing his skills when he retired to Big Bear Lake in 1984. Later they moved to Apple Valley due to health reasons.

Denis is survived by his wife, Rene, plus many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews plus many God daughters and other extended family relatives.
