California Obituaries, San Bernardino County "Big Bear Grizzly"; Submitted by Peggy Hooper This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm Posted: Tuesday, January 3, 2012 4:13 pm Laverne Lillian Piper - 83, of Big Bear City died of a heart attack and past health issues while at St. Mary's Apple Valley Calif. Born on July 22, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wis. she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Piper, and both her parents. Laverne had a very fulfilling life. In the past year she had put up a gallant battle with cancer, her sense of humor and her strong faith and love of her family and friends keeping her going. She is survived by her sons Steve Piper of Big bear City, James Angerman of Netarts Oregon, Nancy Bolender of Riverside, California and her grandchildren Brianna and Nichlos both of Big Bear City. Laverne also has a sister Barbara Chumbly of Glendale, Ariz. Life changes hour by hour minute by minute. We are not the same person today as we were yesterday; small aspects have changed physically and mentally. To hang on to one particular moment in life is foolish; if it could be done it would not be worthwhile. Change is much of the essence of life. Death is the final change. Laverne touched many people's lives and hearts. We wish her a safe passage, unburdened by pain. She will be missed but will always live in our memories.
