Jesse Wayne Smith
62, passed away on June 3, 2011, of complications from pneumonia. Jesse was born on
June 16, 1948, in Baytown, Texas, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam
War. Sgt. Jesse Smith was honored with the Silver Star Medal and received three Purple
Hearts during his two tours in Vietnam. Jesse previously lived in Brea and Anaheim, Calif.,
and at the time of his death lived in Big Bear City, Calif. He worked as a journeyman mechanic
and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved living in the mountains.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Christine Smith, son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Karen
Smith, daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Antony Miller, brother Jimmy Smith, and many
family and friends.
A funeral service was held on June 14, 2011, at the Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, the family asks to please consider a donation to the Disabled American Veterans or
the Wounded Warrior Project.
