Rosemarie Moreen Smith

Rosemarie Moreen Smith
was born in Erie, Penn., on Feb. 19, 1915, and passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 21, 2011. Recently she resided in Chino Hills, Calif., to be close to her family but always has considered Big Bear City her home. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Big Bear Lake and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Chino Hills.

Formerly married to Paul V. Benson and thereafter Charles W. Smith, both deceased, she is survived by her two children, Kathleen Ann Odenwald and Paul David Benson. Rosemarie was blessed with five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Paul and Rosemarie relocated their family to South Gate, Calif., in 1955 where she was
employed with the South Gate Police Dept. as a Matron and Records Clerk. In 1964, she married Charles. They purchased their home in Big Bear City, Calif., in 1966 where both were active in the community. A member of the Moose Lodge and Woman’s Club, Rosemarie was also a volunteer at Bear Valley Community Hospital and a certified handwriting analyst.

She will be fondly remembered for playing the piano, knitting, crocheting, her abundance of energy, rosy disposition, and love of family and God.
