Sutter Native G. Summy Dies
G. William Summy, 81 years old native of Sutter County, died last night in Yuba City. He had been in ill health for some time and recently had suffered a stroke and a heart attack. Summy was born at Meridian and was a rancher in that area until he retired recently. He was the son of the late Leonidas and Sidnia Wood Summy. He attended Slough school and Stockton Business college before settling down to ranching. Summy was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Stohlmann Summy whom he married in 1896 and who died in 1947. A son, Verne Summy and a daughter, Mrs Ruth Burtis also preceded their father in death. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters, C.F. Summy and Miss Almira Summy both of Sutter; Miss Margaret Summy of Meridian and Mrs Alvin Weis of Yuba City, 11 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday in Ullrey Memorial chapel, Yuba City. Interment will be in Meridian cemetery.
