passed away Aug. 18, 2013.
Janet (Felix) Trott was born March 14, 1949, to Bill and Henrietta Felix in Bloomington, Ill. She grew up in Whittier, Calif., and graduated from La Serna High School in 1967.
Janet and Richard were married on July 14, 1979, in Whittier, Calif., where they lived before moving to Big Bear in 1988. They had 25 wonderful years in Big Bear together out of 34 years of marriage. She brought into the marriage her 10-year-old son Jeff who passed at age 25. Her father Bill passed last March at age 89.
Janet worked for the YMCA during the 1980s as an executive assistant program director and became the director of DOVES in 1989. She served as executive director of DOVES for two decades. She loved to dance and had a deep passion for gardening.
Janet has always dedicated herself to a life of community service. She was a member of the Soroptimists for more than a decade and Venture Club. She earned numerous awards for service to Big Bear including Soroptimist Woman of Distinction, Rotary Eagle of Excellence, and National Association of Woman Business Owners (NAWBO) – Amazing Woman of the Year.
Janet served on several boards including the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (CPEDV) Board, Park & Rec Advisory Board and the San Bernardino FEMA Board. She loved helping at the Simple Supper.
Janet is survived by her husband, Richard, her mother Henrietta, her brother George, her sister Barbara, her grandson James, and many nieces and nephews.
The private memorial service for Janet will be held in Henderson, Nev., on Sept. 14, 2013. Donations can be made in her honor to DOVES of Big Bear.
