J “Alex” Wehrfritz

a 14-year resident of Big Bear Lake, passed away June 7, 2013, at Bear Valley Community Hospital.

Born on May 1, 1925 in Little Rock, Ark., he relocated to Los Angeles with his family in 1929. He graduated from Venice High School and Santa Monica City College. He worked as a food broker in Southern California. In 1979 he began to operate his own manufacturers rep. brokerage.

During his semi-retirement in Big Bear, he continued to operate his business. He also enjoyed golfing at the Bear Mountain Golf Course and meeting with his friends for conversation and a little pool at the Senior Center.

Alex was the eternal optimist who always saw the good side of any situation and never uttered a negative word. Even in his later days he continued his positive ways ... He was such a wise and inspiring man.

Alex is survived by his loving wife, Rita, daughters Toni, Teri, Karen and Tracy, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and always loved by every one of his family and friends.

“The Celebration of His Life” will be held on Thurs., June 20, 3 p.m. at Los Robles Golf Club, in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
