Helen I. Wynn
93, passed Jan. 24, 2011, in Yakima, Wash. Born April 16, 1917, in Riverside, Calif., Helen was
the wife of John Wynn who served as principal and superintendent of schools in Big Bear
Valley School District from 1947 to 1959.
A talented teacher, Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. After retirement,
Helen and John worked in international schools and traveled throughout Asia and Europe,
before settling in a cozy log cabin they built in Port Hadlock, Wash. Helen will best be
remembered for her beautiful smile and kind heart.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Sara (Del)
Rankin, of Yakima, and Mary (Henry) Snyder, of Pittsburgh, Pa., three grandchildren, and three
nephews. A celebration of Helen's life will take place later in the year. Those wishing to
