Missing Man’s Body Pulled from Canal
Crows Landing — The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department found the body of a missing Crows 
Landing man inside a SUV that was pulled from the Delta Mendota Canal on Thursday, Aug. 11.
Thomas Peichoto, 62, who was identified by the county coroner’s division last week, had been
reported as missing since March 23.
An investigation is ongoing, but there are no signs of foul play, Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said.
A towing company that routinely searches for vehicles in the canal found a white 1991 Chevrolet 
Blazer using  sonar at 9 a.m. Thursday, according to Patterson police Sgt. John Walker, a supervisor 
at the scene. A man’s body was discovered inside after the vehicle was removed from the water, 
he said.
“(The car) appeared to have been in the canal for some time,” Walker said. “The damage was 
conducive to being in the canal and bouncing off the bottom of the canal.”
