A funeral service will be held here Wednesday for 80 year Patterson resident Helen C. Baalack.  She died Friday at El
Solyo Village where she has made her home in recent years.  She was 87 and had been in declining health for some time.
Born in Cannon Falls, Minn., she moved here with her family when she was 7 years old.  Her father farmed in this area.
She graduated from Patterson High School in the class of 1930.  She and her husband Lawrence, who preceded her in
death, owned the Waffle Shack, later renamed The Shack, for many years.  A service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.
at Patterson Covenant Church.  Burial in Patterson District Cemetery will follow.  Visitation will be today, Tuesday, from
5-8 p.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel.  Survivors include caregivers LaVerne Bowman of Patterson, niece Wilma Hills of
Sunnyvale, and nephew Royce Dobbs of Salinas; and a cousin, Evelyn West of Walnut Creek.  Remembrances should
sent to the American Heart Association or to the Patter Covenant Church, 435 W. Palmas Ave., Patterson.
