Carpenter Dies at 62 in Arizona; George H. Balcom who spent his childhood in Patterson died Saturday evening in
Cottonwood. Ariz., after a long illness. He was 62. Memorial services are set for Friday evening in Arizona. Balcom
attended local schools in the 1940s before moving with his parents to Sacramento.  The carpenter had lived in the
Arizona town where he died for about 10 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church there. He is survived by his wife
Bonnie, two children Phyllis Patton of Albuquerque, N.M. and George Balcom of Utah, and two grandchildren. Survivors
also include his mother Bessie Balcom of Patterson, sisters Mary Smith of Calistoga, Lois English of Patterson, Evelyn
Corbin of San Jose, Nancy Clary of Corpus Christi, Texas and a brother Glen Balcom of Twisp, Wash.
