Rites Held for James Balentine; A funeral service was held here Saturday for James Harvey Balentine, 85, who died at
his Crows Landing home Sept. 7. The Howe, Oklahoma native had been a resident of Crows Landing since 1944.  He was
a member of the First Baptist Church of Grayson and Teamsters Local 853 of Oakland.  He was employed for 20 years by
the Dompe Warehouse Co. The service was held at the Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson. Burial was in Patterson
District Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Balentine of Crows Landing; three sons, James "Duke" Balentine
of Waterford, Roy Balentine of San Leandro, and Bob Balentine of Reno, Nev.; four daughters, Eunice Swanson of
Fresno, Martha Hickman of Crows Landing, Thelma Clayton of Fremont, and Rudy Mayfield of Clarksville, Ark.; four
brothers, Mack and Fred Balentine of Wister, Okla., Baysul Balentine of Fanshawe, Okla., and Hartsel Balentine of
Heavener, Okla.; one sister, Clara Goxble of Howe, Okla.; 29 grandchildren, 38 great~grandchildren, and one great great
grandchild. The family requests that remembrances be sent to the American Cancer Society.
