John Martin Barbaste    June 26, 1953 � March 15, 2005
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today for Patterson resident John Martin Barbaste, 51, who died Tuesday at
Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.  Mr. Barbaste was a native and lifelong resident of Patterson. He was a self-
employed dairy farmer for 40 years.  He was the president of the Patterson Irrigation District, a board he'd served on for
almost 19 years.  He was also a member of the Patterson High Boosters Club, Patterson Gridiron Club, California Farm
Bureau, Dairy Herd Improvement Association and Los Banos Basque Club.  He was a 1971 graduate of Patterson High
School and a 1975 graduate of California State University, Fresno.  He is survived by his wife, Nancy Barbaste of
Patterson; children, Martin Barbaste, Richard Barbaste and Jeanna Barbaste, all of Patterson.  He was preceded in death
by his parents, Martin and Yvonne Barbaste, and a sister.  Today's Mass and rosary will begin at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. Burial will follow at Patterson District Cemetery.  A visitation was observed on
Friday at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson, which is conducting the services.  Memorial contributions may be made
to the P.R.I.D.E., Patterson Recognizing Individuals Determined to Excel, Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1443, Patterson
95363, or to the Patterson Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 565, Patterson 95363, or to a favorite charity.
