Auto accidents leave one dead; A Patterson man is dead and three Simi Valley residents are in Scenic General Hospital in
Modesto with serious injuries as the result of two solo vehicle accidents on Highway 33 and Interstate 5 Saturday
afternoon and early Sunday morning. Jerry Leon Barnett, 35, of 230 L St. in Patterson suffered fatal injuries shortly after
2 a.m. Sunday when his northbound car left Highway 33 near the intersection with Crows Landing Road. According to
investigating officers with the Stanislaus County Sheriff s Department, Barnett s car hit a telephone pole, smashing in the
driver s side door. Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy coroner. His body was taken to the Evans-
Krieger Funeral Chapel in Newman. Funeral services are pending at the Evans Chapel in Patterson.
