Charlotte P. Beard, 68l;  A funeral service will be held Wednesday in Newman for Charlotte Pearl Beard, 68.  She died
Sunday at English Oaks Convalescent Hospital in Modesto.  She was a retired dry cleaner, and former owner of Modesto
Cleaners in Newman.  For a time the business had an outlet in Patterson.  She was a native of Missouri and had lived in
Newman for 25 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newman.  A funeral will be held Wednesday at 10
a.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Newman, with burial in Hills Ferry Cemetery to follow.  Visitation will be Tuesday
from 5-8  at the chapel.  Survivors include her husband, Harold Beard of Newman; three sons, Roy of Modesto and
George and Dennis Beard of Newman; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Louis and
Hoyett Whittaker, both of Modesto.
