Phillip H. Benson, 58;  A funeral service was held here Monday for Phillip N. Benson of Modesto, an area resident for
the past 41 years.  He died last Thursday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto following a long illness. He was 58.
A native of Jasper, Ala., he had worked as a maintenance mechanic at Patterson Frozen Foods and lived here for many
years.  He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 748 and the Maze Boulevard Christian Church in Modesto.  The service
was held Monday morning at Hillview Funeral Chapel.  Burial followed in Patterson District Cemetery.  Survivors
include his wife, Mary Benson of Modesto; his children, Robert Benson of Patterson, Beverly Castillo of Modesto, and
Gail Mattos of Gustine; stepsons Arron and Christopher Jones of Modesto; four grandchildren; two brothers, Joe of
Modesto and Ocie Benson of Patterson; and five sisters, Bea English of Modesto, Gerlene Brown of Alabama, and Audie
LeLieur, Bohbi Coffee and Lou Gartin, all of Patterson.  Remembrances should be sent to the Maze Boulevard Christian
Church, 725 Maze Blvd., Modesto, Calif. 95351.
