Bettencourt Antonio S 460510 p1 Passing of A.. S. Bettencourt Here Sunday; Antonio Sousa Bettencourt passed away early Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Pacheco, on Lemon Avenue. While he had resided here but three years, the deceased had spent a total of 38 years on the West Side, living in the Newman and Crows Landing areas previously. He was a native of St. George Island, Azores, and was 54 years of age. He is survived by seven children; Mrs. Pacheco, Mrs. Helen Silva of Palo Alto, Mrs. Evelyn Siegel of Long Beach, Anthony Bettencourt who is in Army service overseas, Manuel Betttencourt of Patterson, Marie Bettencourt of Monterey, and Dolly Bettencourt of Palo Alto. A brother, Frank, resides in Gustine and a sister and brother, Mrs. Rose Mello and Joaquin Bettencourt, in Crows Landing. The deceased was a World War I veteran and was a member of the American Legion and also of the U.P. E. C. Lodge. Rosary services were held at the Evans Funeral Chapel Tuesday evening, followed by funeral services at Sacred Heart Church Wednesday morning. Interment followed in St. Mary s Cemetery.
